Sunday Mirror gathered that neighbours in the ever busy commercial hub of Joju junction in Sango Ota area had suspected a man carrying human flesh and heads where he was negotiating with one of the women who sells herbs and dry animal parts (Elewe omo ati Leku-leja) in the area and consequently alerted the police.
Acting on the tip off however, men of the Ogun State Police Command in conjunction with operatives of the Special Anti – Robbery Squad (SARS) from Lagos State Command consequently arrested the five suspects.
Confirming the arrest, Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge Ota Division, Gabriel Idibie, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) led a team of policemen which assisted the SARS operatives to Joju area where the five suspects were arrested and exhibits recovered for further investigation.
Adejobi gave names of the five suspects arrested to include Kubura Salami, Tantolorun Abimbola, Kafaya Popoola, Wahid Ibrahim as well as Adamu Rafiu.
The PPRO also said that the exhibits recovered from the suspects included a complete human head, human flesh already sliced into pieces as well as a container stained with liquid substance suspected to be human blood.
Adejobi also said that the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Ikemefuna Okoye, has ordered that the case be handed over to SARS operatives from Lagos for discrete investigation since it is a follow-up to an ongoing investigation with the Lagos State Police Command, stressing that his command would complement the Lagos State Command in the course of its investigations.
