Sad News:Fast & Furious Paul Walker’s Death Was Caused By Speed, Police Confirm

Police have confirmed speed — not drugs, alcohol or a mechanical malfunction — caused the death of Paul Walker on Nov. 30 in Santa Clarita, Calif.
At the time of his death, the Fast & Furious star was in a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT driven by his friend Roger Rodas, who also lost his life in the collision. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s traffic collision experts determined that at the time of the accident, the car was going “between 80 and 93 miles per hour.”
“Investigators determined the cause of the fatal solo-vehicle collision was unsafe speed for the roadway conditions,” Commander Mike Parker, of the North County Patrol Division of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department, explained.Continue
The report went on to say toxicology reports found no traces of drugs or alcohol in either man’s system, while the mechanical report determined there were no pre-existing mechanical conditions that may have factored into the collision.
However, there was one modification that may have factored into the accident.
“During the examination, it was determined that an aftermarket exhaust system had been installed which would have increased the engine’s horsepower,” Commander Parker said.
The police investigation’s findings about speed come months after a coroner’s report determined the “combined effects of traumatic thermal injuries” as the cause of death for both men.

According to the autopsy, the 40-year-old actor’s body was charred beyond recognition. Additionally, soot found in Paul’s trachea would suggest he took a few breaths after impact—though it’s believed both men died instantaneously.
In the months following his death, Fast & Furious has begun production on the seventh installment of the film—which has been difficult for the cast, especially his “brothers” Vin Diesel and Tyrese Gibson.
“God’s grace is all we have,” Tyrese told TooFab, when asked about how they will honor Paul on set. “Before we start filming we are going to have a strong prayer. That will be the start, before we film anything. That’s what is needed for us to do Fast & Furious 7.”
